2022 Pierro Chenin Blanc
'Nunc Tempus Est'
In 1980 Dr Michael Peterkin planted a 1.5 acre plot of chenin blanc which has now grown into lovely old vines yielding small amounts of delicious grapes. Each passing year Dr Peterkin thought to himself
' I should make a special wine from these vines'
Nunc Tempus Est - Now is the time.
The grapes were picked by hand early in the morning and chilled prior to pressing. They were pressed very gently to extract only the finest juice for a cool ferment in tank where the wine then rested and matured over the winter months. The wine was bottled in spring as fresh as the morning it was picked.
Bone dry, with flavours of honey, straw and apples, this will be a long- lived wine if cellared between 14-16 degrees. Bottled in lightweight glass to help reduce our carbon footprint
“Wet wool, fresh thyme and tarragon, and granny smith apples,” he wrote in his tastimg note. “A more restrained style, with firm tension throughout the palate… Kick proceedings off with a glass of this and grilled scallops in lemon butter!”
